Bol, Brac, Croatia

Many day trip boats leave from the harbour, heading for beautiful destinations such as Hvar and Split, and these are a glorious way to spend a day. Wind-surfing, kayaking, paddle-boarding and diving are all very popular from Bol, the conditions for watersports being superb. If you prefer to remain on land, there is nothing better than simply soaking up the sun on the beach and enjoying some delicious refreshment from a waterside cafe or restaurant. But more active pursuits such as hiking, biking and paragliding are all here for the taking.

A gentle meander around the maze of streets in Bol will be rewarded with historic buildings, interesting corners tucked away and the peaceful island atmosphere. Several churches, the fascinating Dominican monastery and the Baroque palace Loza are worth seeking out for an insight into the history of Bol and of Brac. Back at the harbourside, numerous restaurants and cafes jostle for attention and invite you to linger over a long lunch or relax and enjoy dinner with a sunset.

The hills rise behind Bol and none is more impressive than Vidova Gora, which is the highest peak on all the islands. Take the challenging hike to the summit and marvel at the absolutely magnificent views. It is also easily reached by car, so this panorama is accessible to all to enjoy.
