If you’ve never been on a villa holiday before, particularly if you’ve previously only ever stayed in hotels, there are frequently asked questions that come up time and time again. Whatever your preferred Freelance Villas Mediterranean destination, whether it’s Crete, Croatia, Kefalonia, Mallorca, Menorca or Sicily, here we share the answers to the most commonly asked questions! How handy is that?
Q1. Can we check in early or check out late?
We understand that flight times – both arrival and departure times – can vary wildly and, depending on your destination, ferry times, too. In peak summer, our villas are fully booked, which means there are only 6 hours between departing guests at 10 am, and new ones arriving at 4pm. In those six hours, our dedicated team of housecleaners, pool and garden maintenance staff ensure that each villa is immaculate for its next guest. For our recommendations on early or late flight times, please have a look at this page: check-in-check-out
Q2. Are pool towels provided?
In a word, ‘yes.’ Along with fresh bed linen, bathroom and hand towels for 7-night stays, and changes for stays exceeding 7-nights, pool towels are provided. Please note that pool towels are not beach sheets. If you prefer a huge beach towel, we recommend packing your own or purchasing one on location.
Q3. Is it cheaper to book direct?
Yes! Every. Single. Time. Whilst we advertise many of our villas on booking platforms such as AirBnB, Booking.com, VRBO, Plum Guide and more, you can save up to 25% on your villa holiday by booking a Freelance Exclusive Villa directly with us. There’s also greater availability for some of our best villas on our portfolio. You can ‘book direct’ here.
Q4. Do your villas have Wi-Fi?
As tempting as it may be to have a digital detox during your Freelance Villa holiday, all our properties have Wi-Fi with most of them upgraded to superfast broadband.
Q5. Is there anyone local who can help on location?
Absolutely! We have local offices with English speaking staff at our locations in Croatia, Mallorca, Menorca, and Sicily, and in the case of Crete and Kefalonia, our long-time colleague and one-woman-guru on all things local is Diane Steger, who has lived on Crete and looked after these 2 islands for over 30 years. Put a face to the name of our Freelance Villas staff!

Q6. Do you provide location information?
Having been offering villa holidays for over 40 years, we know everything there is to know about our specialist locations! We also provide all our guests a digital guide tailored to the villa they have booked, along with Area Guide, pre-travel information, booking extras, directions and key information, villa information, beautiful beaches, grocery shopping, local markets, the best restaurants, cafes and tavernas, departure info, and medical safety advice. For an example, look at our Crete Digital Guide.

Q8. What are the main differences between staying in a hotel vs a villa?
More privacy! Additional space! More cost effective, especially for larger groups and families! More freedom and flexibility! No pushy holiday reps! We may be biased (!) but there’s a myriad of reasons why people prefer villa holidays over hotels. However, if you are a traveller who prefers daily room or staff services, organised group activities and entertainment, shared facilities such as gyms and restaurants and often a more centrally located property in a ‘livelier’ area, – hotels may be your go to.

Q7. Do you include flights?
To keep our prices competitive, we are a ‘villa only’ operator. However, we have lots of tips and advice as to how to find the best flights available for your holiday. See: Freelance Flight tips
