Our selection of Spartia Villas are located on Cape Liakas, which extends to the south of the island termination in white limestone cliffs that plunge down into the Ionian sea in kaleidoscopic shades of blue from the palest turquoise to the deepest cobalt.
The Spartia Villas are sprinkled across the headland, each sat within its own spacious garden and every one of them enjoying a glorious sea view. They have been laid out with consideration for their guests’ privacy so that none of the villas feel overlooked.
All guests staying at one of our Spartia Villas will find that it’s just a short stroll down to the rock beach (#AmandakissBeach) which extends out into the clear blue waters at the tip of the peninsular. The Cape Liakas rock beach is equipped with complimentary sunbeds and shade for our Spartia villa clients and it’s a perfect spot to stretch out, soak up the sun and listen to the sounds of the sea.
For those who prefer a gentler entry into the deep blue, a ladder fixed firmly to the rocks descends into the crystal blue waters and it would be difficult to find a better place to don your mask, snorkel and flippers to explore the fascinating world underwater.
Our Spartia Villas are approximately 2.5 kms from the small white washed village of Spartia, which is just one of the villages that interrupt the surrounding lush landscape.
The village remains relatively unassuming and well off the beaten track for most tourists on the island, although those that do discover its charms will find two tavernas and a couple of mini-markets within the village itself.
A choice of several further tavernas within a very short drive supplements the choices of eating places, including the ever popular Taverna Eleònas
Out of high summer, it would be possible to walk to the village in about 30 – 40 minutes from most of our Spartia Villas and although this is a pleasant hike from the upper Villas, it has to be borne in mind that it is a pretty steep walk from those lower down and nearer the sea and probably best not done when the temperatures rise.
Approximately 2kms downhill from Spartia village is the fishing jetty, with three tavernas nearby and a little sandy beach on either side. It’s a nice spot for a swim with shallow water and is ideal for children. The Waterways taverna at the top of the beach is quite a landmark hereabouts with its terraces of tables and chairs descending the bank on which it’s built.
Spartia is set in a fertile landscape of lemon trees and olive groves, with occasional church bell towers punctuating the skyline and the pine clad slopes of Mount Aenos creating the backdrop.
A network of paths and lanes lace the surrounding countryside making for interesting walking, especially in early and late spring when wild flowers colour the scenery.
The Freelance Spartia Villas benefit from the peace, quiet and privacy which they enjoy by virtue of their out of the way location, with no traffic passing through the peninsula. They are nevertheless very well placed for exploring the island of Kefalonia, in particular the many beaches along the south coast, as well as the main town of Argostoli.
Just 15 minutes drive away from our Spartia Villas, the town of Argostoli has a lot to offer. Set on a deep inlet, the promenade makes for an enjoyable stroll before or after eating at one of the excellent choice of tavernas.
It is quite a sight to see what fish has been brought in that day and if you look into the water you will probably find that turtles have come to join the spectacle and will bob up to the surface if you happen to have some suitable food to throw them.
