Bobovišća Villas
The tiny hillside village of Bobovišća in Western Brač leads down to Bobovišće by the Sea (Bobovišća na moru), a small, narrow inlet with a pretty fishing harbour, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and archaeological importance. The picturesque bay of Bobovišće, also known as ‘The Poet’s port’ due to its association with the famous Croatian writer Vladimir Nazor, has approximately 50 inhabitants and just about all the necessary amenities for a truly restful villa holiday away from the bustling tourist spots. Visitors will find a couple of restaurants, a bar/cafe, a mini market, a boat rental place, a small playground and a couple of little town beaches.
In the summer, Bobovišće by the Sea attracts sailing boats and small yachts, which moor in the harbour of Bobovišće and the neighbouring, equally beautiful bay of Vičja luka (the Witch’s Port), which can easily be reached on foot via a little walkway along the North bank of the harbour or by boat/paddle board. Vičja luka, which features in legends as the place where witches gather at night to dance, is one of Croatia’s most important archaeological sites of the Illyrian – Greek era; 4 Prehistoric graves and other important finds of archaeological interest where discovered here at the beginning of the 20th century.
