Trapezaki Beach, Kefalonia
Trapezaki Beach is a laid back bay located close to our Villas in Lourdas (Lourdata) and Karavados on the southern coast of Kefalonia, around 13 kilometers from the island’s capital Argostoli. The beach is small, approximately 300 meters in length, split into two different areas by a little harbour, and framed by the wooded green hills of the Livathos region. It’s a serene setting, where local families come to swim in the late afternoons and people visit to dine at the popular beachside taverna, which offers ‘gourmet Greek cuisine’ with lovely views over the sea. There is also a small beach bar on the western stretch of beach. In the summer months, a bus service connects Trapezaki Beach with nearby villages.
The sea at Trapezaki beach is is beautifully clear, the sand is mixed with shingle and pebbles in some places and rocks at the edges. The gentle slope into the water makes it ideal for swimming and paddling and especially suitable for families with small children, as the sea remains shallow for quite a distance from the shore. It is a great spot for snorkeling too, with interesting rock formations on either end, for spotting shells, starfish and small fish, and even the occasional octopus hiding in its den among the rocks.
