This month we’re shifting our attention to the beautiful island of Crete, specifically the gorgeous village of Vryses. The village is around a 30 minute drive from the main Cretan towns of Rethymnon and Chania, and about a 15 minute drive from the stunning beaches of Georgoupolis.
It’s in this quaint village that one of our favourite and most popular villas is located. The Villa Faye is a gorgeous period property that has been finished to remarkably high standards.
The Villa Faye
Located in the rural heart of Crete, the Villa Faye is perfectly positioned for you to explore everything that the village of Vryses and the wider Crete has to offer. The villa is incredibly private, with a private pool, dining terrace with BBQ and a large garden with sun beds provided.
The villa itself has two floors. The ground floor has a kitchen dinner, which comes equipped with a fridge freezer, dishwasher, cooker and seating area. There is also a sitting room with TV and DVD player, double bedroom and a bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet.
The first floor has a second sitting area with a gorgeous fireplace, another double bedroom which has French doors to the balcony, a twin bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with bath, shower and toilet.
There is air con in the villa and wifi is also provided – perfect for keeping the children happy and occupied!
Nearby Attractions in Vryses
We understand that you will probably want to spend all your time in the villa – we would too! However, if you do manage to tear yourself away to explore the surrounding areas of Chania and Rethymnon, there are lots of different attractions keep you occupied. These include the following.
Dourakis Winery
An award winning winery located just outside of Vryses. Wine has been produced here since 1986 and it’s definitely worth a visit. Located within gorgeous scenery, you’ll see a huge stone building that looks like it belongs in a fairytale. Here you can taste wine and take away your own bottles. It’s an educational and enjoyable experience.
Archaeological Museum
Found in the charming old town of Rethymno, this museum is small but fascinating. Showing exhibits from Neolithic to Roman times, you can spend an hour or two getting lost in the history of the place.
Chania Markets
The municipal market is located in the centre of Chania Old Town. It has over 76 different shops to explore and experience, including several different butchers and fishmongers.
